I've never been big on statistics, but when I saw these numbers I thought it was worth sharing to get things started.
-- Since 1990 the percentage of Americans who are considered obese has gone from approximately 10% to over 25%, and several states are now over 30%.
-- Approximately 18% of our nation's youth between the ages of 6 and 19 are considered overweight. That may not seem like much, but 25 years ago that number was below 5%.
-- Did you know that a 32 ounce soda that you get at your favorite convenient store has over 300 calories, and the Caramel Frappucino from your coffee house of choice has 525 calories?
If you were to have each of those you would have already consumed roughly half of your recommended daily calorie intake, and you wouldn't even had any food.
"Okay! If this is supposed to a be a site about Aerobic Benefit, then why talk about food?"
Because we don't really know what we're putting into our systems. Not everything has a label with calorie information, and calories have a sneaky way of adding up to many unwanted pounds.
The examples of the soda and frappucino are good examples of what I'm talking about. However, now that you know how many calories are involved you'll probably think twice before ordering.
Also, your brain needs to start converting what those calories mean as far as the effort needed to burn them off. Those two beverages alone would require a brisk eight mile walk just to get rid of them.
